Will you be ready for Easter in April?Catholic priest Fr. Dwight Longenecker is using his popular blog, Standing on My Head, in an innovative way this Lent.

He will be conducting a "Blobble Study” – that is, a Bible study carried out by means of a Blog.

Fr. Longenecker will be reading through the Gospel of St. Mark and invites readers of his blog to join him.

Every day, he will post the day’s reading with a few observations, personal comments, and points to ponder. The comment box on the blog will be open for readers to respond and converse.

Fr. Longenecker says, "I want to meet Jesus again in a fresh way during Lent, and I want to share that experience with my readers."

A convert from Evangelical Protestantism, Fr. Longenecker served as a minister in the Church of England for ten years before he and his family joined the Catholic Church. He now serves as a pastor in South Carolina in the United States.

One of the major factors in Catholics’ lack of understanding of the Sacred Scriptures is that too many Catholics have not encountered Jesus Christ in a personal way. A prayerful, personal Bible study is one way to encourage that encounter to take place.

Fr. Longenecker is a Benedictine Oblate, and his Bible study will also be a chance to share with his readers the method oflectio divina – the ancient technique of reading slowly with the heart and head attuned to the will of God.
