Receives over 10,000 get-well cards after surgeryBishop David M. O’Connell of the Diocese of Trenton, New Jersey, discusses his recent leg amputation with Zoe Romanowsky. His sense of humor and strong faith has helped him deal with the challenge and he's used his experience to  encourage others with similar problems. Bishop O’Connell has been heartened by the tremendous support he’s received — over 10,000 get-well cards (and counting), as well as emails and videos from school kids.

"It’s a comforting and encouraging thing to know that a bishop means something to his people." he said. "Usually you just go about your business; you don’t realize you really are a part of people’s lives…That gives me a lot of joy."
