Acclaimed actor talks about his passion for helping veterans and his decision to become Catholic
Aleteia caught up with actor Gary Sinise at the second annual Saint Pio Foundation Awards in Washington, D.C. recently where both he and Hon. Jim Nicholson, former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See and former Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs, accepted the Saint Pio award in late May at Cafe Milano restaurant.
Sinise spoke about what his work on behalf of veterans means to him, as well as his decision to become a Catholic after his wife entered the Church.
The Saint Pio Foundation promotes the work and life of Saint Pio and among the guests at its award ceremony this year were Donald Cardinal Wuerl, the Archbishop of Washington DC; Msgr. Hilary Franco, who represented the Aspotolic Nuncio to the UN; Fr. Patrick Conroy, chaplain for the U.S. House of Representatives, and actors Joe Mantegna and Tony Lo Bianco.
