No matter what you’re feeling this Valentine’s Day, we have a song for you 

This is a day to celebrate love in all its moments, in all its seasons.

 

It’s that time of year again: the inevitable loved and hated holiday Catholic feast day that occurs every February 14. If St. Valentine were here today, we think he would take issue with the overly-romanticized celebration of his feast day. He laid down his life to perform marriages in secret because he believed in faithful love and he wanted to enable people to marry in a society that had banned it.

While it may be legal today, our society still finds plenty of other ways to undermine an integral understanding of faithful, self-giving love. That and our fallen human nature takes its own toll. In other words, love takes work. It’s not easy, no matter what season of love you find yourself in, whether you’re waiting around for Mr. or Mrs. Right or well into marriage.
