A single mom couldn’t find a sitter, but her professor came up with a beautiful solution. When she couldn’t find someone to watch her 3-month-old daughter at the last minute, Morgan King resigned herself to missing her class that day. But, when she told her professor, she responded with a wonderful invitation: just bring her baby to class with her!

The single mom was so touched by the offer that she tweeted a photo of the email, adding, “I’m literally crying. So blessed/thankful.”

“I work for the department of Child and Family studies  — so how terrible would it be, if I was unwilling to have a child visit our class?” Prof. Sally B. Hunter joked. She even offered to hold Korbyn herself so that Morgan wouldn’t be distracted.

The tweet received more attention than expected with people from all over jumping in the conversation to encourage more professors to be just as supportive of single moms.

Even the university chancellor, Beverly Davenport chimed in, tweeting, “Morgan, thanks for showing us challenges college students face. Prof Hunter, thanks for being part of the solution.”

In a post on Instagram, King said, “Being a single mom isn’t easy in the least bit, but knowing that I’m not only a single mother, but am a working mother and a full time student too is very rewarding and is something that I know Korbyn will be so proud of me for one day when she’s old enough to understand what I went through to get us where we will be one day.”
