“Elegy for the Arctic” performed for dwindling glaciers

J-P Mauro - published on 08/30/17

Greenpeace made this video to support their fight for Arctic protection.Ludovico Einaudi is an Italian born composer/pianist. He began his career as a classical composer and has since incorporated other genres, such as pop, rock, and folk into his art. He began film scoring in 1988 and has written the music for over 30 movies and TV shows.

This original composition “Elegy for the Arctic” was commissioned by Greenpeace to call attention to the slow disappearance of arctic regions. The video features Einaudi performing his piece on a floating platform in front of the Wahlenbergbreen glacier, in Svalbard, Norway.

Greenpeace filled the video with beautiful scenic shots of the glacier. They describe the piece as a musical interpretation of 8 million voices asking for Arctic protection.
