Dear readers, brothers in Christ, we ask you to join us in prayer in these moments. Recent reports claim perhaps as many as 10 people were killed in today’s shooting at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.

This is not this year’s first shooting. Shootings on campuses have already taken the lives of many. Every victim is one too many. Florida’s past shootings, according to our report, had already quadrupled the death toll for 2018.

Chief Walter Braun of Santa Fe, of the Independent School District Police, said community members should be on alert for any suspicious devices, and call 911 if they find a suspicious device. Authorities explained 10 people were killed in this school shooting; nine of them being students, and one a teacher. Two law enforcement officers were also injured, Braun said. A 17-year old-male student suspected in today’s shooting at Santa Fe High School is already in custody.

We humbly ask you to join us in prayer:

Dear Lord

As we prepare ourselves for the Feast of Pentecost,

we raise our prayers to you.

Please, accept the souls of these innocent students,

these children of yours,

into Heaven.

As we prepare to commemorate the day the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples,

we humbly beg for your consolation,

as these sons of yours have returned to the dust they were made of.

They died, yes,

But, as St. Francis reminds us,

“it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”

Mary, our mother;

you who saw Jesus on the Cross

Help the mothers and fathers of the victims, strengthen them, give them peace.

Amen.

Dear readers, brothers in Christ, we ask you to pray with us the Lord’s Prayer and a Hail Mary for the brothers and sisters we lost today in this shooting.
