There’s power in personal interaction.It’s one thing to know a few facts about a condition; it’s another to encounter another person who lives with it every day.
In this video, a group of kids had the opportunity to sit down and chat with advocate and Special Olympics athlete Devon Adelman. Though some of the kids were familiar with the science behind Down syndrome, none of them had ever had the chance to meet and talk with someone with the genetic disorder. It’s the power of personal interaction that ultimately changes attitudes towards difference and encourages people towards acceptance.
