The video of this woman’s singing has gone viral.It’s time you met Alfina Fresta. Born in Italy, Fresta performs as an opera singer through the Neon Cultural Association, an organization that provides opportunities for people with disabilities to perform alongside non-disabled performers. At 110 pounds, standing only with the help of the woman behind her, Fresta seems unassuming, but as soon as she opens her mouth to sing, she is a force to be reckoned with.
In an interview with Citta Nuova, her mother said her daughter has the “strength of a warrior” after enduring multiple surgeries, all of which proved unsuccessful in relieving the symptoms of her cerebral palsy. But Fresta told her mother that it’s more important that they “focus on the future”.
“I only did what I do best and that makes me happier,”Fresta says. The video of her latest performance unexpectedly went viral, garnering 60 million views on social media. The president of the Neon Cultural Association, Stefania Licciardello, physically supports Fresta during each of her performances, ensuring that she remains standing and comfortable.
