Pope Francis concludes the midday Angelus suggesting we try to get something good from the difficult situation that the pandemic has imposed on us.Pope Francis concluded his address after praying the midday Angelus on November 29, first Sunday of Advent, with an invitation to “try to get something good from the difficult situation that the pandemic has imposed on us.”
He went on to suggest three acts of virtue to grow in during the pandemic:
- Greater moderation and simplicity (sobrietà in Italian)
- Discreet and respectful help for those around us who might have needs
- A moment of prayer in your family, with simplicity.
“These three things will help us a lot: greater moderation; discreet and respectful assistance for those who are close to us who might have needs; and then — this is very important — a moment of prayer offered in the family, with simplicity. Please, don’t forget to pray for me.”
The Holy Father has consistently called the faithful to view the pandemic as an occasion to grow, as well as encouraging obedience to the recommendations of health authorities.
