Enjoy a sweet and joyful time at home, welcoming Christ into your heart.Like so many things, the holiday season has been impacted by the pandemic. Many families won’t be attending their usual services, gatherings, and parties.

But this Christmas can still be a wonderful one, leaving sweet and lasting memories. A positive attitude and some holiday cheer go a long way! Try these 10 ideas to have a merry quarantine Christmas …

1Watch Mass online

Most dioceses still have a dispensation of the usual obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, given the continuously rising Covid-19 rates. Streaming your usual Christmas services online can take some of the sting out of not being able to go in person.

2Sing carols and Christmas tunes

St. Augustine once wrote that “Only the lover sings,” and what better time to show our love for God through song than on Christ’s birthday? Gather with your household for caroling in the living room, or play your favorite Christmas music all through the Christmas season. The music sounds especially sweet if you’ve been waiting all Advent to play Christmas songs!

3Read aloud the Christmas story from the Bible

Share the Christmas story with your loved ones by reading aloud the Biblical account, either from the Gospel of Matthew or Gospel of Luke.

4Deliver a treat to friends and family

Make your favorite Christmas treats, or have your kids make a simple handmade card, and drop off a little surprise with family or neighborhood friends. Guaranteed to brighten their day!

5Video call loved ones

Send out cheery online invitations for a virtual cocktail party with far-flung loved ones, or ring up the grandparents so they can watch your kids open gifts over video call. You can even video call Santa!
