This phenomenal male vocal sextet offers sacred music recitals each Sunday of Lent. The world pandemic, and the weather for that matter, are proving to be fierce hurdles this Lent. With Masses largely virtual and our faith communities isolated, the faithful need a way to keep their minds on the holy season. Thankfully there’s a concert series that will do just that.

The Gesualdo Six, an especially skilled vocal sextet, is putting on a concert series this year. Each Sunday of Lent will feature another short recital featuring some of the finest music in the Catholic songbook. The choir specializes in sacred music from plainchant to motets and everything in between.

Those who subscribe to the concert series will find an excellent soundtrack to Lenten meditation. The sacred music they perform will bring Lent to life with the richly historic tones of Catholic polyphony. All of this is tied together in a professional-grade package from one of the most adept sacred music performers on the market. One of the Gesualdo Six’s most distinctive features is an out-of-this-world countertenor’s high notes that could probably break glass.

The concert series has a one-time cost of 20 euro to attend all eight weeks. The Gesualdo Six note on their website that one ticket will allow on-demand viewing throughout Lent. Until then, visit their YouTube channel to hear their large catalog of sacred music. We especially recommend their treatment of Palestrina’s “Sicut Cervus.”
