Dozens connected to an Islamic State-affiliated terrorist network were arrested in connection with the attack.

Police in Indonesia have arrested 53 people in connection with the Palm Sunday suicide bombing attack on a Catholic cathedral in Makassar, according to a report at UCANews.com.

The attack on Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral left the two suicide bombers dead and injured more than 20 people.

According to the report, the two suspected bombers were a newly married couple belonging to the Islamic State-affiliated Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network.

A police crackdown on terrorism has netted dozens of arrests since the attack on the cathedral. According to UCANews, they could face up to 20 years in prison under Indonesia's anti-terrorism laws.

Fr. Wilhelmus Tulak, parish priest of the cathedral applauded law enforcement's efforts to bring in the perpetrators.

“Let police carry out a proper investigation. Let them enforce the law where it is due. The victims were not only my parishioners but people. This is all about humanity,” he told UCA News.

“We all never want such a thing to happen again.”
