The tune was written during the pandemic, in Zoom meetings.

Miami-based faith group Epic the Band has teamed up with Catholic singer/songwriter Dana Catherine for a brand new single. The tune, “Fearless,” was written during the pandemic and follows themes of rising above fears and turning to faith.

According to the press release, the song was written jointly by Catherine and Epic the Band. While the music gives the impression of a tightly knit group, the song was actually developed at a social distance. The boys of Epic the Band and Catherine reportedly wrote the entire thing in Zoom meetings. Epic’s lead singer, Ricky Gonzalez, said in a press release:

As a song, “Fearless” isn’t anything at all like what we expected. The song opens up with Catherine’s vocal line, which bounds right into a funky bass-line. Each of the verses return to this almost retro style, but the choruses are incredibly modern. The tribal, almost frantic drum beat brings a sense of urgency that is only broken by an ethereal bridge.

We especially enjoyed Catherine’s vocal work. One of our favorite parts of the song is that her melody never really goes quite where you expect it. This interesting mix of intervals draws the ear, while her sultry, rich voice carries it the whole way through. Of the song, Dana said in the press release:

“Fearless” is now streaming on Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, and YouTube.
