One of the show's meanest characters is just a simple down-to-earth man in real life, who was happy to declare his love in this modest Catholic parish.

Jack Gleeson, who played the loathsome Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones, last appeared on the show suffering a grisly death on his wedding day. Happily for the actor, his real-life wedding proved far more joyful.

The 30-year-old married his girlfriend Roisin O'Mahony in what the celebrant, Fr. Patsy Lynch, described on Twitter as a "very simple, prayerful and dignified ceremony."

The priest also shared how the simplicity of the day, and the focus on families coming together, made for a particularly wonderful wedding.

Fr. Lynch explained that the couple intend having a second ceremony in England, but their Irish nuptials were "an amazing celebration. Everyone was so relaxed. I will treasure so many memories of this special day."

Gleeson also shared his delight at how the wedding turned out:"Jack texted me this morning to say that it was such a wonderful, moving ceremony and afterwards they went for a meal," Fr. Lynch shared with the Irish Independent.

The couple tied the knot at the Church of the Sacred Heart of the Glen in Ballinskelligs, a Catholic church in Co. Kerry, Ireland. The pair chose the modest church because they have a close connection to Ballinskelligs, and are a part of the community.

The actor, who studied theology and philosophy at Trinity College Dublin, has no social media presence and keeps out of the spotlight. His low-profile wedding is a welcome break from some of the large extravaganzas we see in Hollywood. And those who follow Fr. Lynch were in agreement with something 365 Days of Dave pointed out that he wrote:

"That's how weddings should be not these expensive lavish affairs that leave couples borrowing thousands of Euros to pay for. A wedding is not |p]butting a show on for your parish it's about 2 families coming together to make a bigger family it's love not an instastory."

Hopefully the new Mr. and Mrs. Gleeson's marriage will inspire others to focus on the more meaningful aspects of a marriage ceremony, such as love and prayer.
