Lead singer Marcus Mumford and his actress wife, Carey Mulligan, have a very quaint way of sharing their love.

Many celebrities seem to have a hard time keeping their marriages strong. So when these familiar faces do manage to make their nuptials work, it's always interesting to see if there's a secret ingredient.

This is just the case for the popular lead singer of Mumford and Sons, Marcus Mumford, and his wife, the award-winning actress Carey Mulligan.

The pair, who wed in 2012, share two children together (with another on the way), as well as lives that see them separated for prolonged periods of time. But as reported in the Daily Mail, in a previous interview with The Telegraph, Mulligan shared the rather old-fashioned way they keep their marriage strong.

According to the 37-year-old, the couple like to write love letters to each other when they're apart. As she explained: "I think they're becoming a lost art form, which is very sad. To have a love letter from someone, to hold it in your hand and know that you can keep it for your whole life … well that's an amazing thing."

At a time when most people tend to send quick text messages, rather than putting pen to paper, Mulligan has a point. There's nothing like cherishing something where you can see the effort that person has made to express themselves -- and there's nothing quite as romantic as a bundle of hand-written letters tied in a ribbon!

It's not really a surprise that the popular pair are keen scribes, considering they were pen pals in their childhood, and actually only got together later in life. But their whole experience is a fine reminder of just how powerful the pen can be.
