On this feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we turn to her to ask for peace and fraternity.

Through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Pope Francis called the faithful to take at least one minute to pray for peace on this feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, at 1 pm.

As is seen in the tweet, the Pope proposes a simple prayer:

Queen of the human family, show your people the path of fraternity. Queen of peace, obtain peace for our world.

The feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary comes the day after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which itself is the Friday following the Sunday following the Thursday following Trinity Sunday.

This year, the feast is following closely on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, bringing the theme of peace especially to mind.

Simple prayers for the whole world

The Holy Father has gathered the world's faithful for such prayer initiatives a number of times, in addition to frequently leading pilgrims in spontaneous prayers during his Angelus addresses or in other talks.

For example, in the heart of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Pope joined an initiative promoted by the Italian bishops in 2020 to pray the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary at 9 pm (Italian time) on March 19, the feast of St. Joseph.

The Pope also likes to suggest simple prayers for the faithful.

For example, he has an easy Morning Offering, of just 11 words: “Lord, I thank you and I offer this day to you."
