Miller's latest EP brings the Catholic music star to new heights, including a collaboration with other industry mainstays: Sarah Kroger and Sarah Hart.

Catholic musician Marie Miller is back in 2024 with another fine addition to her discography: a 5-song EP titled The Way of Love. Miller has risen to become one of the most prominent Catholic artists of the decade, with an ever developing folk/country sound that has reached new heights with this release.

The title track in particular, “The Way of Love,” is a touching testimony of self-discovery through her Catholic faith. Miller released both a studio recording and live version of this lovely lilting tune, and it’s hard to figure out which one we like more. The studio version is a lively song with a full band that fills out the crannies, while the live recording, featured above, is a little slower and more subdued, but with an exquisite vocal performance

We were especially impressed with her chops on the mandolin, which she shows off in brief musical interludes, accompanied by acoustic guitar. Producing a wonderfully comforting atmosphere, this song is an acknowledgment of God’s love and an expression of gratitude for being placed upon the “way of love,” and a promise to never turn from this road that leads her “home at last.”

Included in the EP is “Woman,” a song released in late 2023 that brings together three of the biggest names in Catholic music -- Marie Miller, Sarah Kroger, and Sarah Hart. Each of the singers takes a verse of this jubilant hymn that draws from biblical interactions between Jesus and Mary Magdalene, the woman at the well, and the woman who was caught in adultery.

While Miller’s Catholicism often seeps into her music, this may be the most overtly religious grouping of songs that she has released to date. According to The Herald Malaysia, she found inspiration for the EP in The Chosen, the hit show on the life of Christ. She said he was particularly touched by the way God utilized the disciples to carry out his mission. She said:

“I’m so broken and I need (God) so much and that’s why I’m writing about him,” she said. “You don’t have to be a saint to tell the story of Jesus Christ, because he’s the one who’s going to save.”
