The most prolific Catholic musician of 2024 is back on the heels of a successful album release to announce a deluxe version, with new single, "Ghost."

On the heels of a successful album release in 2024, Sarah Kroger is back with a new single to promote a deluxe release of A New Reality. The song, “Ghost,” places a lovely melody to liturgically based lyrics.

The song begins at a prayerful tone and slowly builds throughout the piece, accompanied by a sentimental piano line and gentle strumming on an acoustic guitar. Kroger’s exceptional voice is the driving factor, however, and the tune really lets her show off her brilliant high notes in the latter half.

Even as the song hits its crescendo, however, Kroger’s voice never grows too bombastic for the material. As the highest held notes ring through the small church where she recorded, she never loses the gentle “church” tones of a dedicated cantor

According to The Christian Beat, Kroger was inspired to write this capacious hymn by the writings and hymns of Benedictine monks. She said of the piece:

“Sometimes the fire of the Holy Spirit lights the way for us,” Kroger said. “It also warms us when we find ourselves out in the cold. Sometimes it’s the fire under us that gets us to move into action. Other times it’s the fire that purifies us and burns away whatever doesn’t belong. I certainly need that fire in my life. I think we all do.”

This new release in 2024 may just make Kroger the most prolific Catholic artist of the year, especially since Matt Maher has pivoted his channel to focusing more on reflections and interviews.
