‘Look at those nuns skiing!’

Deacon Greg Kandra - published on 01/21/18

Now for something altogether different. This was posted on the Catholic University of America Alumni Facebook page:

On January 15, 2018, a group of seven nuns ventured from The Catholic University of America to Ski Liberty Mountain to go skiing and snowboarding. The group consisted of five skiers, one snowboarder, and one observer. Of the six participants, three had experience and two had never been on the slopes before.

“I never dreamed I would ever go skiing again,” one of the sisters exclaimed as they walked towards the slopes.

“Hey sisters, are you really going skiing?” A nearby gentleman inquired.

“Yes!” They joyfully replied.

“That is really cool. Please pray for me.”

“But of course!” The sisters responded.

When they reached the top of the mountain, the four experienced sisters went off to the harder trails. The remaining two received lessons. They learned how to turn, stop, and stay in control. They mastered the easier slopes and were eager to try more challenging ones.

Onlookers pointed at the sisters and said, “They are great!” Others nudged their friends, saying, “Look at those nuns skiing!”

As they waited for a lift, the sisters were approached by Catholic missionaries from colleges in D.C.

“Are you real nuns?”

“Yes, and we study at Catholic University,” a sister responded.

The missionaries were impressed. One of them remarked that it was amazing that nuns could have real lives.

Read on and check out some of the awesome pictures.

But I can’t help thinking it would be more appropriate for nuns to go skiing in Vail…
