We are reading these stories with too much frequency, following these disturbing, often tragic “incidents” in real-time on social media, or waking up to learn that hundreds are dead due to an attack on a mosque, in Egypt.
Or that people are killed while at Sunday worship, or innocently enjoying a concert.
There is too much madness, all about, too much evil. I can’t think of any more prayers to pray, beyond, “Lord, give us peace.”
Give us peace!
As we head toward Advent — a time of quietening, and hopeful expectation, badly needed — all the prayer I can muster is this. Give us peace.
Dona nobis pacem, Lord. Dona nobis pacem.
