Aleteia’s Lampstand winner for September also won in May

Elizabeth Scalia - published on 10/06/17

Some charities really seem to connect with people, and Hogar de Nazaret (House of Nazareth),  in Peru, seems to be one of them. This is their second time showing up as recipients of Aleteia’s Lampstand photo contest.

House of Nazareth was founded by a Spanish priest, Father Ignacio María Doñoro – a chaplain of the Spanish Civil Guard –  who felt called to leave everything to go to Puerto Maldonado to help others. In the spirit of the Holy Family and the gentle parenting of Mary and Joseph, the organization makes welcome children who have been abandoned by their families, or victimized by abuse.

The Lampstand photo contest, based on Matthew 5:15: “No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.” Aleteia is pleased to be able to award $515, again based on the scripture verse, to each month’s winner.
