From electronic pop and R&B to acoustic folk, there's no style Fr. Rob can't play.

Fr. Rob Galea just released an acoustic rendition of his 2019 song “Coming Back.” The singing priest is joined by the exceptional musicians of FRG Ministries for this touching remake. The work shows off his musical growth in the last two years, while displaying his enormous range of style.

“Coming Back” was originally released on Fr. Rob’s album Coming Home. The record drew heavily on synthesized sound to merge sacred music with modern pop and R&B. The new version, however, does away with the digital for a much more intimate arrangement.

Trading in the almost frantic pace of the original, the acoustic version keeps a moderate tempo. This gives the tune a meditative quality that makes the refrain sound more like a prayer. The lyrics speak of a return to the embrace of God, whose “arms are open.” Whereas the original gave the impression of a man sprinting back towards his faith, the acoustic version is more like a victory lap.

This is just the latest of Fr. Rob’s live sessions, which the priest has taken to releasing every few weeks. His YouTube channel is always active, however, as Fr. Galea uses it to promote his ministry and faith. Along with weekly live-streamed Masses, Fr. Rob fills up his channel with prayer videos.

Most recently, he produced instructional videos on how to pray the Holy Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the Stations of the Cross. He also keeps busy with his “Under a Minute” series. In these brief videos, Fr. Rob explains Catholic concepts of prayer or forgiveness in concise terms.
