Here's our selection of saints who were champions of the environment long before our time.

As Catholics we're called to be stewards of God's creation, caring for the beautiful home He has given us here. And fortunately we have some fine examples of how to do that from some of the Church's most impressive figures -- saints who've actively cherished nature through their actions and their words.

If these saints were alive today it would be interesting to note their reactions to the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP26, where scientists and world leaders recently gathered to discuss ways to make a positive impact on the planet. Perhaps their words would change hearts, as they did when they lived.

So take a look at our suggested environmental patrons whose faith and example make them the ultimate champions of stewardship. And if you know of a saint you think could join this group, feel free to share in the comments!
