The humanitarian chef and his team distribute more than 300,000 meals a day to refugees reaching Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania.

Not only has he not retreated from the Ukrainian border, he has crossed it.

José Andrés and his helpers have been distributing food to refugees reaching Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania for more than a month. His charity, World Central Kitchen, is serving them more than 300,000 meals a day.

But that’s not all: he didn’t think twice when it was possible to enter the country invaded by the Russians.

On April 5, José Andrés visited two cities that the international community is talking about: Irpin and Bucha, which have been the target of savage violence.

A video posted on his Twitter account says it all: it shows him taking food to survivors of the horror. But at the same time, without knowing their language, he shows them his full support and tenderness. With a translator he tells them that tomorrow he will be back with more food and the next day and the next ... He will not abandon them.

It’s moving to see how José Andrés shows love and tenderness for each person: for the old woman, for a child and his father... He is putting the works of mercy into action.

This is his testimony.
