In our culture of conflict, we need messages of hope, say organizers.

"Leverage the arts, media, and entertainment to trigger a cultural transformation that promotes the common good, hope and encounter between people globally."

This is the goal of the first edition of the Vitae Summit, an event convened by the Vitae International Foundation, which will take place at the Vatican's Casina Pio IV, as the first venue, from August 31 to September 1.

The event, supported by Pope Francis, will be attended by "artists and actors of international renown," the organizers told Aleteia. The initiative is being headed by Argentine philanthropist Luis Quinelli, 48, president of the international foundation Vitae

Pope Francis is relying on artists to bring about a revolution of tenderness and beauty, saying that they play a very important role as “guardians of beauty, ambassadors of a culture of encounter, and witnesses of hope for all humanity.”

For his part, Quinelli confirms that the aim of the event is in contrast to "a polarized society charged with negative messages and conflicts."

The international foundation Vitae also has the support of Queen Emeritus Sofia of Spain and 25 Hollywood artists, actors, and singers. The program of the event will be published in the coming days.

Art with values

According to the organizers, this cultural and artistic event is the fruit of a series of private meetings held in recent years between Quinelli and the global management team of Vitae and Pope Francis at the papal residence of Santa Marta.

"There we presented the work of the Foundation to him" and "together agreed that the Vatican will host the first Vitae summit in 2022."

"This will be an event at which the guests, with the presence and inspiration of the Pope, will be able to share experiences and, in a collaborative framework, co-create messages and projects of high mass impact that will inspire us towards a better world, based on those universal values that foster encounter, unity, and hope," affirmed the Quinelli, who is also the founder of the Vitae Foundation.

It is worth remembering that in December 2020 under the slogan "Press ‘play’ on hope,” Quinelli and his team launched the song "'La Bendición Unidos" (“The Blessing Together”), performed by a score of renowned Ibero-American artists. It reached tens of millions of people around the world.

The future impact

As confirmed by the organizers of Vitae Summit, this is the first step of several actions that will see the light of day in the near future. London, Mexico City, and Los Angeles are mentioned as the next cities that could host Vitae Summit, among other initiatives, to continue the work started at the Vatican.

What kind of content is being offered to people? What impact are we having on people? Vitae, together with these artists and international leaders, is working to revolutionize the culture at a global level, generating awareness and forging a movement that will exchange those established negative messages for other healthier ones that will help us to live better.
